The Formulations Specialist provides leadership for formulation preparations setup and execution; prepares and reviews formulation preparation worksheets and calculations based on Protocols and Sponsor formulation instructions. Assures that high quality standards and adherence to the Protocols are maintained for test article documentation.
• Understands and practices Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
• Understands Protocols and formulation instructions
• Communicates with the Study Director in regard to formulation preparation instructions and study timelines
• Prepares and/or reviews study specific formulation preparation and transfer records
• Prepares and/or verifies the calculations for dose preparation
• Oversees and/ or performs quality control (QC) process for all formulation procedures, including logbooks
• Reviews SOP's for formulation Quality Control (QC) and pharmacy procedures for completeness and accuracy,
• may serve as Test Article department 'coach' for SOP generation
• May serve as 'off-hours' emergency contact for pharmacy support
• Oversees the proper functioning of the Test Article Pharmacy unit
• Trains or oversees training for Quality Control (QC) and pharmacy procedures
• Attend Protocol review meetings as appropriate
• Assist in addressing audit findings and implement appropriate corrective actions

Job Requirements

• BS in a scientific discipline with emphasis on pharmacy handling and Quality Control
• 3+ years in GLP/GMP regulated environment with strong Quality Control skills
• Pharmacy experience required
• Washington State Pharmacist License Required
• Basic computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word and database programs
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedural manuals and Protocols
• Ability to instruct others on day to day activities
• Extensive knowledge of basic math skills
• Continual GLP training
