Job Description


The laboratory of Brian Kraemer seeks a talented and enthusiastic postdoc who works well with others to join our multi-disciplinary collaborative research team. Dr. Kraemer is faculty at the University of Washington School of Medicine and his laboratory is located on the VA Medical Center Campus in Seattle, Washington. The Kraemer laboratory studies the molecular genetics of neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s disease, frontotemporal lobar degeneration, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. This is a full time position working on a research project supported by an NIH funded R01 grant

Job Requirements


Required Qualifications:
• A PhD in a relevant field of the biomedical science.
• US citizenship/permanent resident status required to access laboratory.
• Experience designing and executing well controlled experiments.
• Strong writing skills.
• Strong verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as a cooperative part of a team.

Beneficial experience/knowledge/skills may include:
• Experience in genome editing using CRIPSR/Cas9 methods.
• Experience in molecular cloning and transgenesis methods
• Experience with genetic analysis methods in model organisms.
• Experience in assessing protein aggregation.
• Experience in advanced microscopy techniques.
• Knowledge of RNA binding protein function.
• Knowledge of the pathobiology of neurodegenerative disease
• Knowledge of the biology of aging and disease
• Knowledge of neurobiology
